The benefits of the day will be destined to contribute with two projects of the Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona focused on humanizing the hospital stay of children and adults

A total of 2.200 runners have been part of a new edition of Fun Run, the charity race of Fundació PortAventura. For the eighth consecutive year, the foundation has organized a day in which sport, family fun and solidarity have once again become the protagonists.

The participants in the race have covered a 6km circuit that has passed within the facilities of PortAventura Park, passing through the different thematic areas of the park along with mythical points of the park such as Shambhala, Hurakan Condor or Dragon Khan.

Along with the race, the day has had different activities designed for all members of the family. Attendees have been able to enjoy two huge Zumba classes, and the youngest have been able to participate in children's races, accompanied by some of PortAventura World's most beloved characters. In addition, Sesame Street characters have also made young and old dance with a fun musical show.

To complete a round day, during the same day of the race, tickets for solidarity were also purchased to PortAventura Park for only € 21. The special sale of tickets has also contributed to increase the final amount, which in this edition will serve to support two projects of the Hospital Joan XXIII of Tarragona.

Sport and family fun for a good cause

Whether running or dancing, attendees of this eighth edition of the Fun Run have shown their support for two very special initiatives, developed by the Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona.

The first of these is an innovative project that seeks to allow hospitalized children to move to the pediatric operating room in electric remote-controlled cars. This initiative is based on a project of a hospital in Bilbao that has revolutionized the operation of pediatric operating rooms: children between three and six years old who have to pass through for a surgery they can move in a remote-controlled electric vehicle from their rooms to the operating room. In this way, the transfer on a stretcher is avoided, a moment that can be drastic for the little ones. The car helps to turn a moment that is usually traumatic and stressful into a fun and more enjoyable experience.

The second project of the Joan XXIII Hospital consists of installing special armchairs in the hospital room of those mothers who have just given birth, to guarantee the rest of their family. Mothers who have given birth usually have company during the nights they are admitted after delivery. It is important that your companions also can rest during those moments and, the best way that they can do it is to have an adequate and comfortable enough seat.

The event was attended by Dr. Albert Pons Porta, Director of the Hospital Joan XXIII, who after the awards ceremony thanked all those present for their participation in this fun and sporting day.

With the benefits obtained with this eighth edition of the Fun Run, € 10.045, from Fundació PortAventura both projects will be supported, aimed at improving the hospital stay for both children and adults.
